Our School Garden

Welcome to our Garden Blog!

With the start of the growing season almost upon us, we are busy preparing the polytunnel and the beds ready for a bumper summer season! Last week, with a delivery of manure, we have managed to cover most of our beds which will give them much needed new nutrients. In the polytunnel, the children have helped us lay weed suppressant material and have been happily filling the wheelbarrows with gravel, pushing them into the greenhouse and tipping the contents onto the suppressant. Other children have been hoeing it level. The children have shown great teamwork and its been lovely to watch them take responsibility and organise themselves. Our next job will be constructing our new shelving which is flat packed! There will be an important component missing, no doubt.
But it's been great to see the children back out in the garden, working together and thoroughly enjoying themselves outdoors. They are always asking us when they are going gardening.  It's really wonderful to see their enthusiasm!

SCARECROW OLYMPICS
To celebrate the 2012 Olympics, the children will be making scarecrows and dressing them as Olympians, to be displayed in our school garden.  If you have any unwanted sports clothing or equipment, please give us first refusal!

WHEELBARROWS
We have two rather poorly wheelbarrows - both have very flat tyres.  If you can help us in repairing the tyres, we would be very grateful

GARDEN SALES
Our Garden Sales will be back very soon, though we are hoping to sell our miniature daffodils and crocuses next week, plus some surplus seeds.  We will be out on the playground on Thursday and Friday at 3pm - depending on the weather!!

All the proceeds of our sales are ploughed back into our garden, enabling to us to purchase more equipment to enhance your child's education.  Your support is very much appreciated.
